This thing has been sitting in the house for weeks now. I have no idea what it is, but it takes up some space, and the 2lggds keep moving it around to get it out of the way of this and that. A couple of weeks ago it got the long poles added to it. Mom sits down on it sometimes, and when she does the poles lift up into the air. When she sits on it, I go to get petted because she's down at my eye level, which I like. Here I am napping between the long poles. Just seemed like the thing to do at the time.
I hadn't intended to unveil this thing until it was finished, but when I found Bubba lying down for a nap between the shafts, I couldn't resist snapping a photo and sharing it. This is a sulky which I am building from parts of two old BMX bicycles, and a swivel chair from the Salvation Army. Bubba doesn't know what it's for because I don't have a harness yet. Once we have his harness, I will finalize the shaft length and bends, and my metals guy will copy them and provide them with foot pegs. We also have to figure out a way to mount the brake levers. The ideal would be to have them foot operated. Once the shafts are done, I will sandblast the frame and paint it. At that point I will post more about the design, and Bubba's draft training.

Oh boy Bubba-cubba, Mom is gonna put you to work! I think it's going to be great fun for you. :)
Hi Cubba-Bubba!
Wow! your mama is sure handy! that's really cool! you'll have to keep us updated in the progres...hopefully you can do a lot of downhill pulling...uphill just sound too tiring!
Love & Licks,
Randi
Randi, we live at sea level. Mom says that's why there are no uphills, no downhills, no hills at all here - just flat, flat, flat!!
Bowins and waggins,
Bubba the Cub
Bubba,
I'm jealous! Mama keeps saying she's going to get me a cart, but she hasn't done it yet. She supposed to start training me so I will be ready for draft work when I turn 2. Looks like you will be having some fun soon!! Please post pictures when you start pulling that cool contraption.
Love and Newfie kisses,
Katie
Woah, Cubba-Bubba! You are a natural carter! I can't wait to see you in action! Dad built us a wagon but it's lying in pieces and we haven't used it much.
Now listen carefully because once your mom gets in that thing there are some things she's going to want but wont know how to tell you. Just remember the 2 legs do this for excitement - a free version of a roller coaster. So here's the best places to run once they hook you in and mom sits down. First, find a freeway ramp. you want the one that says "do not enter" that means the cars don't go up there. Once you get up on the freeway run right down the white stripes. Change lanes as often as possible.
The next time (if there *is* a next time) you can run on a bumpy or rocky field. Finish by going off the side of a bridge into some nice cold water. Your mom will appreciate cooling offf.
Now that you know what to do have a great time!
